Thank you to all who participated in this year's DIG DEEP event!  We raised over $55,000!!  We bought over 2,500 toys for the kids and delivered them to the Salvation Army.  What an event-- and we couldn't have done it without YOU!  Please view our THANK YOU VIDEO HERE.

DIG DEEP:

Dig Deep began back in 2002 when Rick Teed read an article in the San Francisco Chronicle that headlined with empty shelves saying the Salvation Army was in dire need of donations.  In just a few days Rick had raised $10,000 and spent it all on toys, thus making the Holiday brighter for many Bay Area kids: read the full article here.

Dig Deep was born:

Why: Because our mission was so successful in 2002, we decided to form "Dig Deep" to raise money to buy toys for the Salvation Army again in 2009 and boy was that a success!  We raised over $30,000 in just 2 weeks and purchased over $40,000 in toys with the help of discounts! This year our goal is to go even deeper!

Last year we were in an economic slump and this year isn't much better.  The Salvation Army needs your help more than ever.  They lost the donation from CalTrain - over 5,000 toys due to cutbacks and they are really relying on us to make a difference in many childrens' lives.  Give yourself the best gift this Christmas - the gift of giving!!

EVENT: December 8th, 7 am TOY SHOPPING, 6 pm EVENING EVENT - The Republic, 3213 Scott @ Lombard (Marina)           

The evening event will be hosted free drinks and appetizers from 6-8pm.  $25 will be charged at the door unless you have already donated.  All the money raised the night of the event +10% of the night's proceeds will benefit the Wil.i.am Foundation (http://iamscholarship.dipdive.com/) and the SMART Program (http://www.thesmartprogram.org).  100% of the money raised pre-event goes to buying toys for the children through the Salvation Army.

Auction items include: A dinner at Des Amis with two of the brightest minds in technology - Angel Investor, Ron Conway, and Todd Bradley - EVP of Hewlett-Packard’s Personal Systems Group.  And dinner with romance cover sensation, Fabio, in Los Angeles (plane flight and room included.)

Be an Elf:

How it works:  Last year our goal was to raise $50,000 dollars  in order to buy toys for less fortunate families... this year we are starting early and kicking it up a notch!  Our goal?  Deeper.  There are a few different ways to participate in this fundraiser, one is to simply hand over cash (what you are comfortable donating), the other is to become and "ELF". An ELF must raise at least $500 dollars (we hope much more!) through one donation or many. An ELF then earns the right to go shopping with the crew and gets an ELF fun bag.  

Imagine a "Santa Party Bus" (provided by Bauer's - thank you!) of energetic and enthusiastic people who have come together for a common cause, going into the stores Target and Sports Authority to buy toys. We enter the store before hours for a private shopping spree.  Last year the evening event was at Paxti's and this year we will fill The Republic in the Marina to the ceiling with toys!

With the help of the Salvation Army, we identify age groups needs and gender toy needs. What is really unique is that we shop for toys kids REALLY want - bikes, ipods, cameras, razors.  Kids in need want cool toys too.

The lists will then be handed to the "ELVES" who will then shop with their cash raised with a list of specific target toys so that we are effective in meeting all the childrens' needs efficiently. 

All ELFs and donators of any amount are invited to the party beginning at 6pm at The Republic. During the event, we do a toy hand-over to the Salvation Army.  It is very heartwarming!  There are trees, a red carpet, brass band, strobe lights and many cool people....... and celebrity guest - FABIO!! And Liam Mayclem - host of "Eye on the Bay" too!

A silent auction benefiting the SMART Program and Wil.i.am's Foundation will happen at the evening event.

We are so excited about the event DECEMBER 8th in 2010, and would love to have you join in with us as an Elf or to just donate what you can.
